A Taste for Vengeance
A Taste for Vengeance: A Mystery of the French Countryside | Martin Walker
4 posts | 7 read | 3 to read
When a British tourist fails to turn up for a luxurious cooking vacation in the idyllic village in the south of France that Bruno Courrges calls home, the chief of police is quickly on the case. Monika Felder is nowhere to be found, and her husband, a retired British general, is unreachable. Not long after Bruno discovers that Monika was traveling with a mysterious Irishman with a background in intelligence, the two turn up dead. Was she running away? How much does her husband really know? Meanwhile, the star of the girls' rugby team is pregnant, jeopardizing her chances of being named to the French national squad. Bruno's search for the truth in both cases leads him in some unexpected directions--but as ever, he and his friends find time along the way to savor the culinary delights of the region.

Second holiday-read. The Bruno-series always deliver. They are interesting with different plot-lines and intelligent with the conclusion.

I‘ve been reading the Bruno, Chief of Police mysteries while “sheltering in place” and they‘ve provided me with great company!

In this from 2018, Bruno starts up searching for a missing British tourist but winds up battling bad guys from the IRA, with an courageous assist from Balzac the Basset. Along the way, a promotion for Bruno, and trouble for his favorite young female rugby player. As usual, great recipes and food. 💜💜

Book 11 of the Bruno, Chief of Police series. A woman fails to turn up for the week long cooking school his friend Pamela runs, and from there, 2 dead bodies are found. Bruno's rugby protegé may be chosen for the French national team, when she finds out she's pregnant. All the elements of the story combine to make another terrific book.
Book 7/175
