To Catch an Heiress
To Catch an Heiress | Julia Quinn
11 posts | 42 read | 8 to read
When Caroline Trent is kidnapped by Blake Ravenscroft, she doesn't even try to elude this dangerously handsome agent of the crown. After all, she's been running from unwanted marriage proposals. Yes, Blake believes she's a notorious spy named Carlotta De Leon, but for six weeks until her twenty-first birthday, when she'll gain control of her fortune, hiding out in the titillating company of a mysterious captor is awfully convenient -- and maybe just a little romantic, too.Blake Ravenscroft's mission is to bring "Carlotta" to justice, not to fall in love. His heart has been hardened by years of intrigue, but this little temptress proves oddly disarming and thoroughly kissable. And suddenly the unthinkable becomes possible -- that this mismatched Couple might be destined for love.

My #doublespin is done! I enjoyed this one! I love a case of mistaken identity! Could have used a little more spy action but we get some very laughable moments and I‘m happy! Now to read more of these for #bookspinbingo! 😄

crazyspine I love the magnifying glass. 3y
Ash.on.the.line @crazyspine ha, I have to use it or I have to squint to see where the book is on the board! 😂 3y

Just a quick read since I needed something light and free as an e-book. Light, fluffy, non-consequential, but sweet characters. It‘s interesting to compare the differences between romances written today vs 20+years ago. Differences in tone, tropes? I can‘t quite put my finger on it.

⭐️⭐️1/2

Day 19: #ReadingResolutions— Favorite Character Name; his name is Blake Ravenscroft... it just sounds swoon-worthy 😻😻😻

theresidentromantic Ravenscar is my favorite variation on that name 😍 It's a Coulter novel that I should actually reread... 6y

This book gets a lot of points for making me laugh. Multiple character interactions were pretty funny. But there was a general lack of depth and the pacing was a little off, particularly in the middle. Also the plot and characters didn't feel real.
C+
I'll also count this for #ReadHarder "a book with a cover you hate." Those roses look like plastic and I'm pretty sure that's a stock photo of a castle by the water.

I thoroughly enjoyed this historical romance and can't believe it's my first Julia Quinn novel. I enjoyed the banter between Caroline and Blake. Overall, the story was light and fun. I look forward to reading the second in this duology and more of Quinn's books. #LitsyAtoZ #QuinnisforQ

Jas16 I love Julia Quinn! I recommend the Bridgerton series. 7y
Bookzombie @Jas16 I think I'm just going to try and read them all, but the Bridgerton series has been on my list for years. 🙂 7y

Rate 4/5

I like this book, Caroline Trent as audacious woman she met with Blake Ravenscroft and Blake think if Caroline is Spy. Blake has Pigheaded character because Blake always not believe if Caroline not Spy and i don't like it. Caroline like a Lady altough she is not noble woman. The sweet moment is at the end when Blake saved Caroline from enemy and when Blake said to Caroline if he loving Caroline in the beach oh... it's very-very sweet
