Friendship takes center stage in New York Times bestselling author Nancy Thayers captivating, emotionally charged novel featuring all the tenderness and wit, drama and romance that readers have come to expect from this insightful, much-loved writer. When they meet as girls on a beach in Nantucket, Maggie McIntyre and Emily Porter become fast friendsthough Emilys well-heeled mother would prefer that she associate with the upscale daughters of bankers and statesmen rather than the child of a local seamstress. But the two lively, imaginative girls nevertheless spend many golden summers together building castles in the sand, creating magical worlds of their own, and forging grand plans for their future. Even as Emily falls for Maggies brother, Ben, and the young womens paths diverge, the duo remain close friends. Then the unthinkable happens: Handsome, charismatic, charming, and incredibly sexy Wall Street trader Cameron Chadwick upends both their lives and disrupts their friendship. Struggling with the tough choices they must make and the secrets they must keep, the two young women discover that the road to love and fulfillment is full of bumps and twists. And while true love may be rare, Maggie and Emily find that friendship is even rarerand more valuable still. It wasn't as good as Elin Hilderbrand but was a quick Summer read. The plot was a little predictable but hey, who wants to think a lot in this heat.

I can't seem to read anything but Beach books. Also, as you can see, I am trying to quit smoking.

LauraBeth My hubby quit smoking and has been vaping for a couple of years now. Congrats on quitting 😀 8y
Gayan It's hard but there is a vape shop right next to my office! 8y
SusanInTiburon It IS hard, and I'm rooting for you! You'll never regret quitting. 8y

AnnaDesourdy Best of luck with quitting! I smoked throughout high school and college but finally met a man (who ended up being my future husband) who hated smoking with a passion and convinced me to quit and I'm so glad he did! It's very hard and I still think about it every now and then but the benefits of quitting vastly outweigh the "benefits" of smoking! 8y

I normally relax my criticism for beach reads, but this was poorly written. The writing was stunted and felt like I was reading a collection of notes about a book instead of a fluid narrative.
