A nice change of pace after the last literary work. Nothing like Eve Duncan and Joe Quinn to make certain that evil is taken down. A new female lead, journalist Jill Cassidy and CIA operative Jed Novak partner with Eve to bring a number of children “home.” They also need to assure the dead stay dead and a president doesn‘t keep her own misdeeds hidden. 4 ⭐️‘s for Johansen‘s signature thrills.

I‘m not going to lie, I was disappointed by this Iris Johansen book. I have not read the whole series up to this point, but it sounded so good and the writing in her other stories are so strong I had high expectations. I found this one hard to get into, longer than necessary and I just didn‘t care for the storyline as much as I expected. It wasn‘t suspenseful when it should have been and took me a while to get through it... ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

So this was returned to the library today. It came back from an older woman whose home was flooded. At first I was appalled by the condition, and then when I heard what happened, I was amazed it was even on her to-do list to return it! Thought I could use the pics for a "what not to do to your books" display.

Nute I feel for the book, but I guess that I feel for the patron far more. A house flooding is probably devastating on any level.😞 4y

bibliobard Reminds me of the time I had a senior returning his textbook before graduation in rough condition, before I could say anything he told me that the textbook had been in his truck when it was picked up by a tornado. He told me he didn't want me to be mad or worried about the text book so he made sure to save it from the truck. I was like “OMG I'm just glad you're okay!“ 4y

CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian Reminds me of someone who called the library worried about not having returned their DVDs and explained that it was because they were going through an awful divorce and living in their car. I was like, that is okay please not do worry about your DVDs we will sort it out when you are able to come in. 4y
