The Marvel Art Of Skottie Young
The Marvel Art Of Skottie Young | Jess Harrold
5 posts | 1 read
Celebrate the unmistakable artwork of Skottie Young in a colorful collection of comic pages, covers and cartoons! The distinctively stylized illustrator first caught fans? eyes with his flaming-hot take on the Human Torch, and he?s wowed readers across the years since on Marvel books including VENOM, SPIDER-MAN: LEGEND OF THE SPIDER-CLAN, NEW WARRIORS and NEW X-MEN! Young steered the Guardians of the Galaxy?s fan-favorite Rocket Raccoon into solo adventures, and his variant covers are a collector?s-item sensation! In addition to his art, Young has written ROCKET RACCOON AND GROOT, MAGNETO: NOT A HERO and DEADPOOL! This volume is the ultimate retrospective of the Marvel Universe according to Skottie ? ideal for Young and old!

Just 1 more sleep until we drop the kids at school & head to #C2E2! Priority #1 is always seeing Skottie Young. Also excited to see Donny Cates, Jenny Frison, Faith Erin Hicks, & Noelle Stevenson. It‘s not all comics though...lots of authors too—Rainbow Rowell, Rae Carson, Joe Hill, John Scalzi, Sam Sykes, Terry Brooks & more. Super excited to discuss Mexican Gothic as part of the Penguin Random House Book Club. And then panels & people watching!

Here‘s my top #19In2019. Some were fun, some were profound, one illuminated forgotten moments in history, some explored the dark & emotional depths of being human, one boldly declared that epic fantasy in the rural Midwest is truly a thing, one provided a road map to a wonderful treasure, & all of them were engaging, fascinating, often complex & occasionally heartbreaking, & always entertaining in all the ways good books are. A great reading year.

Centique I‘m excited to read some of these - makes my TBR look even brighter to hear you enjoyed them! 4y

I discovered Skottie Young via his illustration of Neil Gaiman‘s Fortunately, the Milk. I‘ve slowly been reading my way through his work and having just read this book, my “to read” list has expanded greatly. If you are a fan of a Young or, indeed, a fan of comics this is a great book—it tells the story of Young‘s career with Marvel, using extensive quotes from Skottie, & highlights the development & range of his art. Gorgeous & interesting book.

Super excited to dive into this book. It‘s no secret I‘m a huge fan of Young‘s work—writing, art, variant covers, everything—and I‘m looking forward to learning more about his work for Marvel...and to spend quality time with his art. 50 minutes until the comic store opens and I‘m going to distract myself with this.
