Day 16 - #song #TheSoundofSilence #SimonandGarfunkel #PoetryMatters

The poem consists of five irregular stanzas in which the poet describes the conflict between spiritual and material values in our modern world. It begins with an address to darkness. The narrator says that he has come to talk to it because a certain vision has planted its seeds in his brain while he was sleeping. The vision still remains there in the sound of silence.

Cathythoughts I love this song ♥️👍🏻 (edited) 1mo
gradcat @Cathythoughts Me, too, and I know of several other singers and/or bands who have covered it—all beautifully. This song must lend itself to alternative arrangements, but I‘ll listen to any & all of them—with relish! ♥️ 1mo

LiterRohde @EadieB It really is amazing to me that all of that is just voice. And it was interesting to hear that live in concert. 1mo

LiterRohde And I didn‘t bother to find out who was opening for them, but it turned out to be Rachel Platten of “ Fight Song” fame. So that was cool. 1mo
