Swarm of Bees
Swarm of Bees | Lemony Snicket
3 posts | 3 read
From the bestselling author of The Dark comes another brilliantly illustrated picture book that takes on an intense childhood emotion--this time, anger--in a rollicking, kid-friendly way. Whether you're a kid or a bee, sometimes you feel so mad, you buzz around looking for people to sting and trouble to make. See how one boy, a swarm of bees, and a whole town can get riled up and then find a way to feel better through the comfort of unconditional love and community. Printed in a brilliant palette of primary colors, brimming with beautiful dots and stripes, Rilla Alexander's art sings. Not since David Shannon's No, David! have readers been given the pleasure of witnessing such uproariously terrible behavior, unbridled emotion, and ultimately, such comfort.

This sweet book with beautiful art is about expressing your feelings healthily, and is full of great messages for children to hear. This book F would be perfect for a RA, with a follow up activity on emotions. I found https://medium.com/lbyr-parents/the-swarm-of-bees-official-storytime-kit-1654e80... this website from the publisher with activities about the book incorporated in. Helping students recognize their emotions in integral to raising

ebrown competent and aware students. Having students complete the emotions activity related to the UDL strategy of self regulation (9.2). The ESOL strategy related to this lesson would be 30. Encourage the use of drawings as aids to identify concepts and seeing relationships. I would most definitely recommend this book in the classroom! #ucflae3414f19 5y

Swarm of Bees is a traditional literature book written by Lemony Snicket. The pictures are by Rilla Alexander and are full of bright colors and dot art. This book is about a little boy, along with a swarm of bees and his town, who all get upset but then come together to feel better. This is a fantastic book for EL students to encourage self-talk with strategy #3..

MeaganM I can see teachers exposing students to the bond of community and working together as a way to open the door for EL students to discuss their own culture and community. https://www.thepathway2success.com/how-to-teach-positive-self-talk/. #ucflae3414su19 (edited) 5y
Macker11 This looks like such a cute book! What a great lesson embedded into it as well! I love the classroom community side of it as well, cute choice ! 5y
MeaganM This website is very useful for teachers who want to incorporate self-talk and positive talk. It provides tips for helping children use positive self-talk. This book would be appropriate to use with a storytelling strategy to engage all students and for UDL 9.1 to promote expectations and beliefs that optimize motivation. This book would offer many opportunities for great discussions!

DrSpalding I am hoping you were inspired by the author study to check out some of Snicket‘s/Handler‘s work. Good choice! 5y
