Nonexistent Knight and the Cloven Viscount
Nonexistent Knight and the Cloven Viscount | Italo Calvino
5 posts | 7 read | 5 to read
Two novellas: the first, a parody of medieval knighthood told by a nun; the second, a fantasy about a nobleman bisected into his good and evil halves. Bravura pieces... executed with brilliance and brio (Chicago Tribune). Translated by Archibald Colquhoun. A Helen and Kurt Wolff Book"

Librariana Hubby and I started watching "Nope" yesterday. We meant to finish it tonight, but yours truly didn't have the greatest day at work (silly reasons, really) and I'm feeling quite blah ? Unrelated to my mini-venting, your song selection is incredible! You have fantastically eclectic taste, Scott ?? 1y
vivastory @Librariana I'm sorry to hear you had a bad day, Ana! It's my experience that several small annoyances can be as irritating as a major annoyance. I hope that you have a better day tomorrow. As is the case with my books I pref several different types of music. I get restless listening to one type for too long! Yesterday evening I went from Low to Howlin' Wolf to Ravel. 1y

A whimsical but thoughtful tale of knights, names, and deeds. I can‘t help but imagine it as a Wes Anderson film.

This was, from a technical perspective, an amazing literary feat. I have to chew over this to properly extract the things Calvino did with this book. I mean, it is only 133 pages but so amazingly constructed.

I adore Calvino. "Invisible Cities" is one of my all-time favorite books. One of my 2017 reading goals is a read through of all of Calvino's works.

manifestsanity I love Invisible Cities. Read it for a PoMo class in college and always meant to read more. I have a copy of Cosmicomics collecting dust. TBR! 7y
vivastory @manifestsanity He is wonderful. I'm really looking forward to my read through. Starting as soon as I finish my Vonnegut read through. 7y
