Teens form an all-girl band in the face of an impending comet. A woman faces giant spiders to collect silk and protect her family. New friends take their radio show on the road in search of plague survivors. A man seeks love in a fading world. How would you survive the apocalypse? Defying Doomsday is an anthology of apocalypse fiction featuring disabled and chronically ill protagonists, proving its not always the fittest who survive its the most tenacious, stubborn, enduring and innovative characters who have the best chance of adapting when everything is lost. In stories of fear, hope and survival, this anthology gives new perspectives on the end of the world, from authors Corinne Duyvis, Janet Edwards, Seanan McGuire, Tansy Rayner Roberts, Stephanie Gunn, Elinor Caiman Sands, Rivqa Rafael, Bogi Takcs, John Chu, Maree Kimberley, Octavia Cade, Lauren E Mitchell, Thoraiya Dyer, Samantha Rich, and K L Evangelista.

Hi folks! Pic is from the cover reveal for Rebuilding Tomorrow, the follow up anthology to Defying Doomsday. DD had stories of disabled and chronically ill people surviving and thriving in the apocalypse; in Rebuilding Tomorrow they will be building a new world down the track. Crowdfunding on Pozible right now - please consider joining in and sharing. Disability rep is important, and it's still very limited in SF, especially postapocalyptic.

Lauredhel Reward options include Defying Doomsday, if you missed it the first time around. It was one of my favourite books of 2016 and was shortlisted or won multiple awards. (edited) 4y
Clare-Dragonfly Oh, I‘ve been wanting to read DD and this sounds even more up my alley. I will try to find room in my budget. 🤔 4y
Lauredhel @Clare-Dragonfly yay! It's a struggle crowdfunding outside of kickstarter, I gather. And I really want this book to happen! 4y

Finished this today. Excellent anthology featuring characters as diverse as the apocalypses described. I particularly liked I Will Remember You by Janet Edwards, And the Rest of Us Wait by Corinne Duyvis and Tea Party by Lauren E. Mitchell.

This made me laugh. Does that mean there's something wrong with me?

Sitting in University of Pennsylvania Hospital with one of my clients today. I think a inner city hospital would be the absolute worse place to be during an apocalyptic event. On the positive side I'm through 12 stories of this excellent anthology and we have a nice view.

As someone who loves post apocalyptic fiction and work with people with disabilities I spend lots of time thinking about how these people who I have grown to love would survive in a collapsed society.

Writer's luck. When you find 3 pens & old rainbow phone under your desk. On the ereader: Defying Doomsday. A fantastic YA anthology feat. disabled & neurodiverse protagonists. #currentlyreading #litsygram #diversitydecbingo #readthemargin

DEFYING DOOMSDAY is an anthology of apocalypse fiction featuring disabled and chronically ill protagonists. The stories hooked me in from the very beginning and are as diverse in their apocalypses as they are in their protagonists. Highly recommended.
