Tommy Wallach, the New York Times bestselling author of the stunning debut (Kirkus Reviews, starred review) We All Looked Up, delivers a brilliant new novel about a young man who overcomes a crippling loss and finds the courage to live after meeting an enigmatic girl. Was this story written about me? I shrugged. Yes or no? I shrugged again, finally earning a little scowl, which somehow made the girl even more pretty. Its very rude not to answer simple questions, she said. I gestured for my journal, but she still wouldnt give it to me. So I took out my pen and wrote on my palm. I cant, I wrote. Then, in tiny letters below it: Now dont you feel like a jerk? Parker Sant hasnt spoken a word in five years. While his classmates plan for bright futures, he skips school to hang out in hotels, killing time by watching the guests. But when he meets a silver-haired girl named Zelda Toth, a girl who claims to be quite a bit older than she looks, hell discover there just might be a few things left worth living for. From the celebrated author of We All Looked Up comes a unique story of first and last loves.

WOW, this is the second book I have read of Tommy Wallach, the first one was We all Look Up and I remember completely loving that one. I have so many ideas running around about this book and I have finished it a couple of days ago. This book was the first one that I picked since school started and it was easy to read and quite interesting talking about important topics. From objectives in life to learning to let go. 100% recommended

This was brilliant! The main character, Parker, was a really interesting kid who met Zelda, a 246 year old who still looks like a teen. There was romance, history, philosophy and Parker‘s own fictional stories too, a lot to cram into less than 300 pages, but I enjoyed every page!!

Reading this while away with the family in Somerset so not read much as we‘re having adventures!! But I like what I have read so far and I‘m keen to find out if Parker will talk and more keen to find out who Zelda really is!!

I'm only rating this so-so because I hate books that have sad endings. Like it could be so perfect for the character and it could go on into more books but the author just kills it right there and it sucks..it was a really good book I just don't like to end it on a sad note.

4/5 Stars don't trust the generic synopsis. This is random, full of tangents, weird, extremely thought provoking, funny, honest, and it was like many things I have read before and like nothing I have ever read. I am saying I enjoyed this immensely.

This was SO FREAKING GOOD. I was expecting a contemporary and while it has that vibe, there are a few extra things that might surprise you!

Loved! Great YA fiction but more importantly great fiction. Pair it with Salinger, Fitzgerald, Hemingway. This novel was totally different from We All Looked Up. It showcases how versatile and culturally literate the author is.

Purchased on an impulse, and it was the right move. I felt in a constant state of wonder about one of the characters... I really enjoyed it!

Love is a little bit like genetics -- sure, there's an element of chance in there, but when all is said and done, you're probably going to end up taking after your parents.

This book caught my eye at Barnes & Noble yesterday - TBR, here it comes!

thelibraryofmars I didn't know he had another book out! 8y
bookstacksonstacks Just this week apparently! He's been doing a bunch of signings around NYC to promote it. Glad you got the app to work!! I'm still figuring out my way around it here... 8y
thelibraryofmars I thought We All Looked Up was pretty decent (although I read it for its Seattle setting and end of the world drama). I am so excited about this app actually. Thanks for sharing it! 8y

bookstacksonstacks Did you know We All Looked Up was optioned for a movie?? It actually kind of struck me as something that may even work better as a movie..then hopefully it wouldn't dwell on the slower parts of the novel. 8y
thelibraryofmars It's been a while...hmm I think some of the inter character development would enviably get glossed over but I don't think that's a breaking point for or against it. Oh! Did you ever listen to the album Wallach released with it? 8y
bookstacksonstacks I didn't! I actually just saw that he did that when I was reading through the new one in the bookstore..how was it? 8y
thelibraryofmars I was pretty underwhelmed. I remember wanting it to be more emotionally inspiring? Or tied into the music that the characters made in the book? It didn't really add to or compliment the story in my opinion. Shrug. 8y
