Interesting look at the first years of Portuguese presence in India - and a good contrast with the narrative I learned in school.

Another book finished for #wintergames2021 #teamgamesleighers and #bookspinbingo

An excellent book about an oft forgotten historical episode; the Portuguese exploration and subsequent attempts to control the Indian Ocean Spice trade. A bloody tale of ruthless ambitious men, whose actions echo down to the modern day Middle East and Mediterranean.

iread2much Did you also read Spice by jack turner? I love unique history books! 8y
Oblomov26 No have seen it but never picked it up. John Keays Spice Route is a comprehensive history but very dry 8y
