A creepy story that will take you back to the hot summer of 1976

Pickpick

I greatly enjoyed this book. It took me a while to get through, but mainly because the pace is of such a nature that you don't feel the need to rush through the story. I thought the balance of freaky and intense was very good, never pushing into the gratuitous or distasteful.
I recommend this book to those who enjoy the classic slow Gothic novels of Anne Radcliffe, as well as those who enjoyed the Haunting of Hill House and The Woman in Black.

September book haul 😍😍 Have you read any of these yet?

RainyDayReading I just read The Passengers a couple days ago! Picked it up and could not put it down, I had to find out what was going on. 5y
janeycanuck The Thirteenth Tale is amazing. I recommend reading it on a dark & stormy night, if at all possible. 5y
Tashreads @RainyDayReading I read The One this month and was hooked, so I‘m sure the same will happen with Passengers!! 5y

The narrative moves between the reported poltergeist haunting of two teenage sisters in 1976, & the present day investigation.

The author conveys the sense of suffocation & unease very well. It was atmospheric but not as chilling as I had hoped, plus I had an inkling about the conclusion & was a little disappointed to be right. 4🌟

Thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Bonnier Books/Zaffre, for the opportunity to read an ARC. #NetGalley
