“One Crazy Summer“ written by: Rita Williams-Garcia is an extraordinary book about three sisters that go on a trip to visit their estranged mother in the year of 1968. Because they arrive to a cold welcome from their mother, they are thrown in the middle of chaotic and interesting situations from a political group called “The Black Panthers“. This HF novel won many awards including the Newbery Medal. Must have for all classrooms. #UCFLAE3414F19

Tinks A powerful & humorous story about family, forgiveness, and growth. great for teaching black history in a meaningful & amusing way. The UDL 8.2 regarding varying demands & resources to optimize challenge and develop self-assessment and reflection and evaluation along with EL 6 for continually monitor student comprehension. This novel meets the educational standards for classroom curriculum and would be a great resource for many subject projects. 4y
AleciaM I read this book as our lit circle group assignment. I love this book great for teaching about different cultures. 4y
DrSpalding You have done a nice job with your universal design and English learner strategies along with the summary of the book and identifying your genres. Your posts are missing website resources and teaching strategies. 4y

Pickpick

What a great HF novel by Williams Garcia. Join these three sisters on a trip to find there mom. Be prepared for twists and unfortunate events!! I would use this book for LC and allow for structured conversation throughout! #UCFLAE3414F19

haleyklein Here is a lesson plan I would plan to use! https://www.rif.org/sites/default/files/Support_Materials/One-Crazy-Summer-Discu... I would use this alongside UDL 8.3 and my ESOL strategy is 44! 5y
DrSpalding Your posts seem to be getting shorter and less detailed. Again a high-quality resource and a definite literature circle or read aloud. 4y
