Day 38.
Here I will note 365 books (or as many as I will have before I get tired) that have shaped my taste in literature. No explanations, no reviews. Just the cover of the book.

This is a crazy romp of a book. The language is both raw and beautiful. I had to use the wiki glossary sometimes, but I can‘t move on if I don‘t know a word. This was not an easy read because it is a whole new world yet still our world. And some of the subject matter is rough. Drug addition, questionable relationships, abuse, and poverty. I still really liked it and they recommended as long as you can take it. It‘s not gory but it‘s intense.

Ok to be honest Vurt is not an ebook so it‘s kind of awkward to hold on the toilet. 😜 I thought this was super funny so I wanted to share with you all. Happy Read A Book Day! 📖📚🎂

My dog loves Saturday evenings when we can cuddle and read. Finally get to start Vurt, I am sure it is worth the wait!

They finally came! Now to hurry and get Library book club book finished so I can start these bad boys.

At GenCon I heard about this awesome book:Vurt by Jeff Noon. I wanted to get it, but it is older so no one had it at Con. When I got home I immediately tried to find it. I couldn‘t find it in ebook so I went to Amazon, but finally had to turn to eBay. I had to haggle with a seller, but I order it. I knew I was in for a wait, but when I saw where it shipped from I felt like the universe was playing a huge joke on me. It shipped from Indianapolis!

Possibly my favourite book of all time.
Cool, mind-bending and adventurous.
A cyberpunk landmark.

I participated in a Kickstarter and one of the rewards was a signed chapbook of stories by Jeff Noon set in the Vurt universe. Coolest. Thing. Ever. 😍

A group of friends access shared virtual realities via colored feathers. The feathers are legal & regulated, but they attempt to find feathers sold on black market. These illegal feathers are more potent as well as more dangerous. Vurt is for fans of transgressive drug literature in the tradition of William S. Burroughs & Irvine Welsh.

Generally not into SciFi but this book was just quirky and interesting enough that I remember it well, 15ish years after reading it. It's a TRIP for sure. Far different from the popular YA dystopias -- which are fun too, with my tween daughter. But Vurt's way weirder.
