I have read Roadside Picnic by the Strugatsky siblings, but not the tagged book. I have to say that this might very well have the most terrifying title I have heard in quite awhile.

Bookwomble That's an amazing cover design! 13mo
vivastory @Bookwomble The SF Masterworks covers seem divisive. Personally I really like these editions! 13mo
Bookwomble @vivastory The earlier editions had covers by Chris Moore, which I usually liked, then later they solarised his artwork, which I didn't like at all. If the newest editions are in this style, then I like them again 😊 13mo
LeahBergen That title! 😆 13mo
vivastory @LeahBergen Seems especially relevant with Daylight Savings this weekend 😒 13mo

Science-fiction satire that uses the absurdity of Soviet life for inspiration. Briliant.

Pickpick

It took me *2 weeks* to read this 240-page Soviet Era novel! A SFF novel published in 1965, the absurdist sensibility, Russian naming conventions, and suspect translation issues made this a challenging read; but if you work your way through it carefully, it's actually a clever and entertaining story!

Release Date: October 01, 2017

Moray_Reads I've read a couple by the Strugatsky brothers, I'll look forward to this one 7y

Starting this one today: A Science Fiction Classic written in 1965, it's about a science research lab in the USSR that looks into magic!
