I read this in the early 1980s - pre-Stephen King novels, and thought it was pretty thrilling

This took quite a while to finish due to the arrival of my PS5, a week of vacation and a 3-day reenacting event. 🙄 I wouldn't call it 'fast-moving' as a blurb says on the back, but I liked it well enough.

I loved the way the writer used niche words with such maturity and elegance. The novel is woven with a bit of suspense and humour (if you could guess😅) and perfect introduction of the characters (eg. Susan; she appeared like a girl of Pepsi-Cola people's dreams)

I used to have some serious made love for Robin Cook!!!

Texasblues I remember that one - my grandma would check his books out of the library and I'd steal them all to read. So creepy. 8y
Book_Gnome I think I read them all back in the day. Loved them. 😂😂😂 I never had to sneak them. I just bought them outright. Hahahaha 8y
Texasblues There were some "incidents" after I stayed up all night reading Stephen King and couldn't sleep until daybreak - my parents started trying to censor horror material in response. My grandma had no such compunctions. 8y

Book_Gnome Ha! My parents NEVER censored me. Perhaps they should have! I remember reading King as a young teen bit before that I render watching Salems Lot with my dad as a PREteen. I still hear that scratching at on the window 😥😥😥 8y
readingallthetime I loved this book. It absolutely terrified me. 8y
