“You just said that you couldn't complain, and I thought, really? You can't find something to be mad about right now?“
“I think if I let myself get mad,“ Clay said, “I wouldn't be able to feel anything else.“

I didn't know it was possible to love EVERY story in a short story collection but I really, really did. Honestly, it shouldn't be a surprise that Nino Cipri is the one who finally accomplished it for me, since I've also loved their novellas.
Mostly sci-fi, some horror but also love and hope. Final story in particular is heart-warming and hilarious. (It might be my own grad school experience that biases me towards it.) 1/?
Just Nino Cipri in their acknowledgements being a very relatable human. 🌳🌲♥️
Today's phrase that scratched my brain just right:
"...truths that were clipped and groomed into manageable, sensible creatures."
I really loved this collection of speculative short stories (and those who know me know that stories are not typically my jam, so they have to be excellent to keep my attention!) - top marks for transgender and nonbinary representation, also just playing with tropes in new ways.
Every week, I'm highlighting #lgbtqauthors. 🏳️🌈 Nino Cipri has been known to wear many hats in addition to being a writer, editor, and educator, including screenplay writer, puppeteer, and bike mechanic. They earned the Dzanc Short Fiction Collection Prize for Homesick, and support #multimedia storytelling (also called #transmedia). #lgbtqvoices #lgbtq #nonbinary #transgender #queer
Was too anxious to get the sleep I badly need, so I finished the novella that closes this book and was soothed. Thank you for being good, book!
