Your Moon, My Moon
Your Moon, My Moon: A Grandmother's Words to a Faraway Child | Patricia MacLachlan
3 posts | 1 read
For many children who live far away from their grandparents, it can be hard to understand why they can't always be together. Patricia MacLachlan has created a bridge to close the distance by finding connections in memories and the moon they share. A beautiful, lyrical poem coupled with Bryan Collier's rich collages, Here and There celebrates the importance of staying close to your family, even across thousands of miles.

“Your moon is my moon too.”

I think a lot of children would be able to relate to this story. Living or being far away from a loved one may be hard for a child to comprehend fully. However, this story gives a great outlook on how to handle those types of situations, especially at that age.

This was an extremely thoughtful and sentimental book that has a lot of great meaning to it. I can definitely relate to this story; it reminds you that no matter how far a loved one may be away from you, it is always important to keep in touch with them and to know that they are always “there”.
