The Day We Saw the Sun Came Up by Alice Goudey and illustrated by Adrienne Adams was published in 1961. This book is a fictional story and is about a brother and sister who get up early to watch the sun. As they watch the sun they notice the colors, their shadows, the relationship between the Earth and the sun, and the Earth's rotation. I liked how the book was able to explain the sun and shadows and the Earth's rotation in a fun way.

Caldecott Honor Book. This is a sweet and informative book for a classroom or just young kids in general. It‘s fun and whimsical but real and a good learning opportunity too.

The Day We Saw the Sun Come Up by Alice E. Goudey and illustrated by Adrienne Adams, 1961. This is a whimsical and fun read with a little bit of learning towards the end. The way the children marvel in the sun paired with the images make it feel so light and fun and then you feel like you are learning along with them. The illustrations really added to the fun and whimsy and lightness of the story.
