I can't believe Sonia Sanchez has had poetry out since the 60's and I've never heard of her before ? I loved this collection and hope to read all of her other collections too.
"...I cried. For myself. For this woman talkin' about love. For all the women who have ever stretched their bodies out anticipating civilization and finding ruins"

“....I am here between the voices of our ancestors
and the noise of the planet,
between the surprise of death and life;
I am here because I shall not give the
earth up to non-dreamers and earth molesters;...”

Originally published in 1984, this 1985 edition was its fourth printing on Thunder‘s Mouth Press. I first met and had my copy signed by Sonia Sanchez (b. 1934) in 1986.♥️🖤📚
