The Diabetes Code
The Diabetes Code: Prevent and Reverse Type 2 Diabetes Naturally | Dr. Jason Fung
2 posts | 4 read | 4 to read
From acclaimed author Dr. Jason Fung, a revolutionary guide to reversing diabetes. Dr. Jason Fung forever changed the way we think about obesity with his best-selling book, The Obesity Code. Now he has set out to do the same for type 2 diabetes. Today, most doctors, dietitians, and even diabetes specialists consider type 2 diabetes to be a chronic and progressive disease—a life sentence with no possibility of parole. But the truth, as Dr. Fung reveals in this paradigm-shifting book, is that type 2 diabetes is reversible. Writing with clear, persuasive language, he explains why conventional treatments that rely on insulin or other blood-glucose-lowering drugs can actually exacerbate the problem, leading to significant weight gain and even heart disease. The only way to treat type 2 diabetes effectively, he argues, is proper dieting and intermittent fasting—not medication. The book is revolutionary. Dr. Fung is an authoritative voice. He‘s a nephrologist. He‘s done his research. It‘s a wonky, dry read at times. Some readers may not enjoy all the data. Does it work? Complicated answer. The keto diet is radical. Dining out is HARD. Is it worth it? It‘s probably the best dietary hope for diabetics. Dr. Fung strongly promotes intermittent fasting. The results are shockingly positive for me. I‘d say read the book.

Cailey_Mac The endocrinologist I worked for always strived for this; I loved that he would try to get patients off any medications if he could. 5y
SoniaC Would you recommend it? I‘m struggling with diabetes and am curious if this is worth reading. 5y
jenniferw88 @SoniaC I haven't read this - just did a Goodreads search but if you use insulin and carbohydrate count i can recommend 5y

SoniaC @jenniferw88 Thank you I‘ll check it out. 5y
Dndlnz @SoniaC I‘m torn about the book and his theory. I‘m diabetic. After great A1C for 2 years it doubled. I‘ve spent about 8 weeks on the keto diet. I‘m not perfect — it‘s HARD. I‘ve lost about 6 lbs - not much. Blood sugar down a little. By far biggest help is intermittent fasting 20+ hours. Much more effective than keto. I‘d say go keto — but FAST 24 hours each week. When fasting bs drops and stays low a few days regardless of diet. 5y
