Alex + Ada Vol. 2
Alex + Ada Vol. 2 | Jonathan Luna, Sarah Vaughn
6 posts | 29 read | 3 to read
Tensions rise between humans and robots in this sci-fi/drama. Alex took a huge risk to unlock Adanow she can think for herself and explore life as a sentient android. As Alex and Ada spend more time together, they become closer. But as restrictions tighten on artificial intelligence, Ada feels unsure about her place in the world, and Alex questions being with an android. Collects ALEX + ADA #6-10.

Still liking this, but just a little bit freaked out at how much the two look like siblings. Also, the story feels so rushed that I have trouble buying into the emotional connection.

I had no idea going in that this was only a three volume series. I'm loving it so far so I'm kind of sad it's not longer, but also glad I can read it all at once. I really enjoyed volume 2 so I'm excited to start the last volume tomorrow.

Last post for tonight before going to bed (almost 2am over here). These were my purchases today: Alex + Ada Vol. 2 and two boxes of tea from the new T2 store in Singapore. I'm trying their French earl grey which is a fruity and floral version, and their gorgeous geisha which is strawberry cream. I can start reading Alex + Ada soon, now that I have all three volumes!

I'm reading a lot of books focused on robots and AI lately; the ethical questions and metaphorical ways that authors discuss this topic are just so interesting. This series is about a guy who gets a robot as a gift, and he has to confront his prejudices and his sense of morality when he decides to "wake her up," aka return her sentience. I was only lukewarm about the first volume, but liked this one better as it focused more on Ada.

Kinokuniya has 20% off for its members and I walked out of the bookstore with nothing. I haven't had a chance to go through my wishlist to see what I absolutely need to have. I was thinking maybe Vol. 2 and 3 of Alex + Ada since I already have (but haven't read) Vol. 1. I try to read mostly ebooks so I only allow myself to buy physical copies of graphic novels. Which titles would you recommend?

TheLibrarian Anything my Brian K. Vaughn. Also Locke and Key, Fables, Rat Queens, Sweet Tooth (super weird), Preacher, and I heard Monstress was pretty good. 7y
Serotonin I really enjoyed Descender 👍 Good sci-fi 😉 7y
Chachic @TheLibrarian I tried the first 3 volumes of Saga but decided that the series isn't for me so I'm not sure if Brian K. Vaughn's other titles will work for me. I have Rat Queens and Fables! Just haven't read them yet. Monstress is SO GOOD, one of my favorite reads this year.💖 thanks for the recs!😊 7y
