The use of botanic materials to create every part of the illustrations in this book is astounding. For example, look closely at this hibernating frog in an underground den made of a desiccated leaf.
More #endpapers love.
#FallIsBooked Day 11: From Fats‘ review: “Drawn from Nature is a visual masterpiece from artist Helen Ahpornsiri. The artwork featured in this book are made entirely from hand-pressed plants, #leaves, petals, and seeds. She transforms these into butterflies and blossoms, glorious greens, and hopping hares, among others.” Her full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-kSl
@JoScho this was such a sweet and amazing surprise! I love the little sphynx pin! So cool 😎 😸! Thank you!
Drawn from Nature is a #blamelitsy for sure, but it‘s from the library so it‘s ok! It fits the #LittenLoveBingo challenge for “inspired by @WanderingBookaneer ‘s love of #nature”
All week, I‘ve had an absolutely gorgeous stack of picture books set aside to look through. Work was quiet enough this afternoon that I finally had a chance. This one is illuminated with art made entirely from bits & pieces of the natural world: pressed flowers, leaves, algae, ferns, seed casings, berries, & blades of grass.
It was worth the wait. 😍🌸🍃🌿🍄🍁
What a beautiful book! All the illustrations of plants & animals are made from plants--grasses, flowers, leaves, stems, etc! The book follows plants & animals through the seasons, highlighting different seasonal activities (it is a children's book). The illustrations are so intricate & lovely. This pic doesn't do it justice, so you should check it out for yourself!
