3 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
What has happened to Cornelia Blackwood? She has a loving marriage. But she has no friends. Everyone knows her name. But no one will speak it. Why? Cornelia Blackwood is about to do something very wrong, for reasons she believes to be right. A paperback bestseller with her debut novel, The Things We Never Said, and nominated for an RNA Award in 2014, Susan Elliot Wright's novels are perfect reading for fans of Maggie O'Farrell and Anne Tyler. Praise for Susan Elliot Wright: 'Passionate, intriguing and beautifully written, The Things We Never Said deserves to stand on the shelf next to Maggie O'Farrell's books. A powerful and talented new voice' Rachel Hore, bestselling author of A Gathering Storm 'If you love Maggie O'Farrell, you will love this' Veronica Henry, bestselling author of The Long Weekend 'A brave and moving story about how much can be lost and what happens next' Alison Moore, author of Booker-shortlisted The Lighthouse 'Two intertwined stories explore a past filled with terror and grief, and a heart-breaking present, in writing as smooth and bittersweet as fine dark chocolate' Jane Rogers, author of The Testament of Jessie Lamb 'A beautifully crafted story that explores harsh family secrets with effortless clarity. A wonderful debut' Isabel Ashdown, author of Glasshopper

Wow, I've just finished this book & I understand it all now. Very serious topic although thankfully not too commonly experienced.
This moving story is of a woman who experiences personal tragedies, more than she can bear, & has to continue to maintain a life for herself in their wake.
I enjoyed the Then and Now chapters, entwining her previous life leading up to her current life, both painful to read.
Poignant, touching & compelling until the end.

I'm about halfway through this book & I'm enjoying it's ease to read, her style is a little like Anne Tyler.
Times switch between Then and Now & I feel its building up to something big, divulging more each chapter. The deceit going on atm is making me a little uncomfortable tbh & who on earth is Cornelia Blackwood???
Some of it may be a little predictable, but I'm still interested in what lies ahead
Hoping to finish soon, I'll be back...

Happy New Year to My Fellow Littens!
To kick off my New Years resolution, of only reading books from my shelf, not the library, I've pulled out the books which have been calling to me over this past year
Not sure which one I'm going to start with yet, but today I've indulged myself by lounging in bed ALL day reading tagged book. Sooooo nice

I've never set a book goal before so my New Goal for 2020 is 24!
How have you spent your first day in 2020?

Curiouser_and_curiouser @CarolynM oh cool, yes, after reading 2 of Anne Tyler's novels last year, I've included a couple more of hers in my stack for this year. I love her style of writing 💜 4y
