This Super Dog is the Cat's Meow! August is a brilliant inventor who is afraid of the outside. Charlie is a crack pilot who isn't afraid of anything. Together these pals save lives every day. They also happen to be cats who pilot a powerful, mechanical dog suit! Always eager to leap into danger, this feline duo have their work cut out for them as they try to thwart Princess, an evil alien bent on enslaving mankind. Don't let the fact that Princess looks like a cute, diaper-wearing baby fool you. She's clever, determined, and totally ruthless. So when Princess and the browbeaten fools she calls servants enact a brilliant and dastardly plan to conquer Earth, August and Charlie pull out all the stops to save the day.

Silly, bizarre, and over-the-top, Sparks reminds me of a kids cartoon in all the best ways. I love the premise of two super intelligent cats saving the day while propelling a dog suit.

A fantastic all-ages comic. Recommended.

Matsumoto‘s art is expressive and Dedrick‘s colours are vivid. Combined, they have created a dynamic and fun comic to look at. Boothby‘s story has great comedic beats and a good narrative flow. He manages to provide character depth to an otherwise simplistic story. Great balance of goofiness and sincerity.

tonyahoswalt I ordered and cataloged this book at work and thought it was awesome! 6y
JosieG The cat personalities just from that page are so spot on from my experience. I need to find this! 6y

OMG is somebody actually reading of their own volition??!! She seems to like the new comic I bought her. If anyone has recs for a 3rd grade reluctant reader I‘m all ears. Animals are cool princesses are not. Don‘t mind the sticker strategically placed over my stack of unread New Yorkers...

RidgewayGirl Graphic novels really are gateway books. Captain Underpants, Babysitters Club, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dork Diaries. It gets them started without being a page full of text. Looks like you know what you‘re doing! 6y
saresmoore My princess-hating 3rd grader tends to devour books that are a bit on the irreverent side: David Walliams, Roald Dahl or more thriller-y, like the FunJungle series or The Story Thieves. Also graphic novels: Big Nate, Phoebe & Her Unicorn, anything by Raina Telgemeier, Babymouse. Check out brightly.com, as well. 6y
Flaneurette @RidgewayGirl Yes! That big wall of text just scares her off because it is intimidating. I do already have most of the wimpy kid series from her older sister(plus 2000 other books in this house)I should try them again with her. Thanks! 6y
Flaneurette @saresmoore I also bought Phoebe & Her Unicorn today and it looks really cute! I‘ve got some Big Nate already but I will def check out your other suggestions. Thank you! 6y
