Bone Bed
Bone Bed | Patricia Cornwell
10 posts | 26 read | 16 to read
A woman has vanished while digging a dinosaur bone bed in the remote wilderness of Canada. Somehow, the only evidence has made its way to the inbox of Chief Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta, over two thousand miles away in Boston. She has no idea why. But as events unfold with alarming speed, Scarpetta begins to suspect that the paleontologist s disappearance is connected to a series of crimes much closer to home: a gruesome murder, inexplicable tortures, and trace evidence from the last living creatures of the dinosaur age. When she turns to those around her, Scarpetta finds that the danger and suspicion have penetrated even her closest circles. Her niece Lucy speaks in riddles. Her lead investigator, Pete Marino, and FBI forensic psychologist and husband, Benton Wesley, have secrets of their own. Feeling alone and betrayed, Scarpetta is tempted by someone from her past as she tracks a killer both cunning and cruel."

🎧 I‘ve only read 1 Scarpetta book. This was similar. A good medical/forensic/female MC/suspense novel.

A woman disappears from a dinosaur bone bed dig in remote Canada & somehow the MC is drawn into the mystery from many miles away.

I haven‘t read enough Scarpetta books to make a comparison but this was good. 1st person fit as the MC seems self consumed & alone. This sets up a story with a cruel killer making the book good & creepy.

Finally finished this read and very pleased about it! I didn‘t have much recollection about the plot line so it was like a brand new read for me, which was a good adventure. 😊

Hi everyone! I‘ve been MIA for a while so I decided to post something to let people know that 1) I‘m still reading; and 2) I‘m still reading The Bone Bed because my summer was insane and I took a bit of a hiatus. Now that it‘s September, I‘m making a real effort to read at least one chapter before bed - last night I read three. 😁

Megabooks Welcome back! 5y
SleepyDragon I have also been lax in posting on Litsy and am also trying to finish a book I started in June. Lol Nice to know I'm not the only one who has had an insane summer. 5y

This is another re-read. My dad gave me this for Christmas a few years ago. When I was growing up, my mom was always the one who played a real active role in my reading - reading to me, took me to the library, bookstore, etc. Dad never discouraged reading but he wasn‘t as active as my mom was. This was the first book (supposedly) he picked out for me on his own, so it holds a special place in my heart.

Started reading this at the beach. Stayed up late last night and early again today to finish it. Kay Scarpetta is an amazing woman. Love to see her niece Lucy in the book. I love Patricia Cornwell's books. Even though they have the same characters, you can read them in any order. Starting another!
