Ellie Frias disappeared long before she vanished. Tormented throughout middle school, Ellie begins her freshman year with a new look: she doesnt need to be popular; she just needs to blend in with the wallpaper. But when the unthinkable happens, Ellie finds herself trapped after a brutal assault. She wasn't the first victim, and now she watches it happen again and again. She tries to hold on to her happier memories in order to get past the cold days, waiting for someone to find her. The problem is, no one searches for a girl they never noticed in the first place. TE Carters stirring and visceral debut not only discusses and dismantles rape culture, but it also reminds us what it is to be human.

I bought this book a year ago and it has been on my shelf forever because I was worried about reading it. This book physically hurt to read. The main character was flawed, but her story was so beautiful and raw. The plot was also horribly real and haunting. It makes you extremely angry with society and makes you want to hit someone. Please read this amazing book so that rape culture will finally disappear.

I found this book so unbelievably sad for so many different reasons. It was hard to read because of this, but sometimes reading something you find hard is a good thing!

This book was difficult to read, yet oh so good. Reminded me a little of The Lovely Bones.

This is just not my reading week. This story is about a girl who feels like she‘s never noticed, then she‘s raped and murdered. Honestly it was depressing and I skipped a lot because I didn‘t plan on reading active rape from a ghost perspective and I didn‘t really enjoy it at all. It does show rape culture in an honest light especially with the trial antics but ultimately the violence overrode everything else and the book wasn‘t for me.
