Been There. Done That. Try This!
Been There. Done That. Try This!: An Aspie's Guide to Life on Earth | Tony Attwood, Craig Evans, Anita Lesko
4 posts | 2 read | 2 to read
If you only buy one book to improve your life this year, make it this one. Temple Grandin, Liane Holliday Willey, Anita Lesko, Stephen M. Shore, and many other Aspie mentors, offer their personal guidance on coping with the daily stressors that Aspies have identified as being the most significant, in order of urgency - anxiety, self-esteem, change, meltdowns, depression, friendship, love, and much, much more. Based on years of personal experience, this book is packed with advice from Aspie mentors who have all been there and done that! World expert Dr. Tony Attwood rounds up each chapter with professional analysis and extensive recommendations. He includes essential information on destructive strategies that may look attractive, but that have counter-productive effects. Including full color artwork from Aspie artists showing visually how they interpret each stressor, this is THE inspirational guide to life for young adults, the newly diagnosed, and as a life-long reference for anyone on the spectrum - written by Aspies for Aspies.

Pickpick

This book was really optimistic with a lot of good tips and advice. Since it was set up as a series of themed essays/vignettes, it was possible to glean lots of helpful information. If one essay didn‘t help, I just moved on to the next one or the one after that. I took notes in the margins, and I feel like this book was a really positive and empowering read. Highly recommended for Aspies & their loved ones. #AspieLife #SpectrumLife #AspieBooks

Here are the books I hope to read during the month of May. Which books are up next for you? Thanks for the tag, @HoneyBeeLee !! #LitsyLove #bookofthemonth #MayReads

Avanders What a varied selection! 💖 4y
Hooked_on_books Nice! I liked So Sad Today but I know some others didn‘t, so it‘ll be interesting to see what you think of it. I‘ll be working on my bookspinbonanza stack this month! 4y
slategreyskies @Avanders It really is. I‘ve been stuck with trying to choose books to read lately, so I‘ve decided to try to read as many as possible from one shelf on my bookcase. It‘s made the selection process easier, but it‘s resulting in an eclectic selection! :) 4y
slategreyskies @Hooked_on_books So Sad Today is one of those books I heard good things about a while back and then proceeded to purchase a copy but never ended up reading. It‘s been sitting on my shelf for months, but it‘s a short one, so I‘m determined to read it rather than put it off any longer! :) 4y

The pic is of the dogwood tree in my front yard. The book is an aspie book I‘m reading. I‘m not finished reading it yet, but it‘s excellent so far. #ASD #SpectrumLife #AspieBooks

My goals for the #EasterExtravaganza readathon—-

- 18 hours
- 2 books
- 500 pages

I‘m currently at 4.5 hours, and I‘m partially through several books, but I haven‘t completed any of them yet. I‘m not sure of my page count, but I‘ll check it in a bit.

The pic is of a chickpea and corn coconut curry I made a few days ago and served with triangles of flatbread.
