Don't misunderstand me, Tolkien's writing itself is fresh, humorous and fascinating (if a little dense for the novice in this one). My problem with this and others I've read recently is the editing. Rather than reproducing every single manuscript edit and correction of two short pieces it would be far more valuable to see a longer work on Tolkien's languages with more analysis and a broader scope , more akin to the linguistic sections of HME
