i haven‘t read a novel in a while so maybe i don‘t have a great frame of reference, but...WOW, i think this is my new favorite book of all time. beautifully written and very, very radical. ⭐️ 5/5 ⭐️

Caucasia is a compelling and nuanced coming-of-age story about race, identity and family amid the backdrop of 1970s-1980s America. Birdie is a strong protagonist whose strength and vulnerability carry the narrative. It's always interesting to read stories like this one that help me see the world through an entirely different lens. (All this being said I loved Senna's book New People 100x more.)

#riotgrams Where I read: a sunny nook in my home. One of my faves on the shelf: Caucasia by #DanzySenna, a book that taught me my story is important. #mixed #diverselit

Mixedreader @Mariposa_Bookworm it's super comfy! I got the base at a thrift store and bought a new cushion, which made it affordable! 7y

#DiversityMonday, #blm, #weneeddiversebooks, really interesting look at race; two biracial sisters are split up, the lighter-skinned one sent to pass with her white mother, the darker-skinned one taken with her father and raised in Black Power communities. Even this many years after reading, I'm not totally sure that I liked it, but it definitely raises lots of questions, especially about personal identity and the politics of passing.

BookishFeminist This looks great!! 8y
ultrabookgeek OK so let's talk about this book! Firstly, the writing is gorgeous. Secondly, it touches on race and sisterhood in a very specific way that is so accurate ( my sister and I are multiracial and I look black while she looks more ambiguous) - there is literal no other book like it. One of my all time faves! 8y
