Eric is eternally curious and effortlessly charming - a house guest whose approach to the world will capture your heart. This is a mini gift edition of one of the most loved stories from the multi-award-winning, internationally lauded masterpiece Tales from Outer Suburbia.

“I just like the idea of creating books for as broad a readership as possible, and so that means including younger readers.”

“I think picture books are perhaps the most diverse of any literary genre, the most inclusive, the most experimental.”

From Mel Schuit‘s wonderful interview with Shaun Tan:

4 🌟 This book was interesting but hard to describe. Eric is a foreign exchange student who comes to live with a family for a short while. The family does what they can to make him feel welcome and give him a memorable experience. But they are not sure they are successful. Even after he is gone, all they know is “it‘s a culture thing”. I like this book, but I can not really say why.
