I‘ve been listening to this audiobook for about a month. Finally finished it today! I don‘t love non fiction but I read everything this author puts out. He makes non fiction read like fiction, and I‘m a big fan. This story was one I hadn‘t heard before, so I was able to learn a lot! I would recommend this one for history fans and non fiction haters alike!

This book is not a “typical” book I would read.
However, this book was very intriguing. It is not written as a “dry” nonfiction. The author did a great job including the facts without bias. It gives insight into the Vietnam War as well as ins and outs & dealings within the White House, and abroad. It gave me a better understanding of what occurred during the Vietnam War & the Watergate Scandal. Factual and enthralling. Highly Recommend

This is the best explanation of the motives behind Vietnam that I have ever read. Listed as young adult, but I'd say it's for everyone. It emphasizes how important a free press is, & that journalism is more than writing a blog. It is a responsibility to tell the facts & the truth. This is a book that makes me want to read more on the topic, & will have me thinking about it for a long time to come. I can't give higher praise than that.

Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it.

I'm just going to confess that my knowledge of history is spotty at best and nonexistent at worst. The Vietnam War era is an especially blank spot for me. Maybe because this is a book written for your adults, but I found it so compelling and interesting! It includes enough back story and information about the player's lives to be relevant, but doesn't ever get bogged down. Pretty freaking relevant to today, too.

I wasn't really sure if I would like this and can't actually say I'm enjoying what I'm learning, but I'm definitely invested now that I'm about a third of the way in. I might have uttered a few angry comments while listening on my walk tonight! Additionally, I think I've found my political book for the #ReadHarder Challenge.

Can't stop listening to this, even though it makes me feel helpless with anger. My dad is a Vietnam vet, but I've always felt the politics behind that war were too complicated for me to grasp. This author gives fantastic history and background and then reveals the political machinations behind the disastrous conflict. Completely comprehensible; reads like a novel.

Steve Sheinkin is simply the best! There are so many secrets in the government. Scandal is real! 😳

I listened to the audio and couldn't shut up about it for weeks -- everything I never knew about the secret machinations behind the war in Vietnam and more. EYE OPENING and profoundly resonant to issues today; nothing about mid-century US looks the same after reading. For kids, but also EVERYONE.

Rereading some Steve Sheinkin in honor of his author visit this week! Just as good the second time around!
