Wish You Were Here: A Novel | Renee Carlino

You know when youre looking at someone and you cant help but smile at how oblivious they are to their own charm? Thats what was happening to me, and it was making me feelhappy. Euphoric. Something indescribable. It was like we already knew each other, like we had met in a previous life. Memories that didnt exist began exploding in my mind like fireworks. Charlotte has spent her twenties adrift, searching for a spark to jump-start her life and give her a sense of purpose. Shes had as many jobs as shes had bad relationships, and now shes feeling especially lost in her less-than-glamorous gig at a pie-and-fry joint in Los Angeles, where the uniforms are bad and the tips are even worse. Then she collidesliterallywith Adam, an intriguing, handsome, and mysterious painter. Their serendipitous meeting on the street turns into a whirlwind one-night stand that has Charlotte feeling enchanted by Adams spontaneity and joy for life. Theres promise in both his words and actions, but in the harsh light of morning, Adams tune changes, leaving Charlotte to wonder if her notorious bad luck with men is really just her own bad judgment. Months later, a new relationship with Seth, a charming baseball player, is turning into something more meaningful, but Charlottes still having trouble moving past her one enthralling night with Adam. Why? When she searches for answers, she finds the situation with Adam is far more complicated than she ever imagined. Faced with the decision to write a new story with Seth or finish the one started with Adam, Charlotte embarks on a life-altering journey, one that takes her across the world and back again, bringing a lifetimes worth of pain, joy, and wisdom.

"Rules are for people with the luxury of time"

** Wasn't sure how I felt about this book until the very end. There was a lot of it that I didn't love, maybe because I couldn't relate to it, but in the end it came together and I didn't regret reading it.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this romance but wouldn't necessarily recommend it

RaimeyGallant Good to know. :) And a belated welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site. It's the link in my bio on my page in case you need it. Or if you prefer how-to videos, @chelleo put some together at the link in her bio. 6y

This was an interesting book. In many ways it was a total train wreck, and yet I found myself oddly drawn to what was going to happen next. It‘s probably because there didn‘t seem to be much forethought into the characters actions, and by extension, the writing itself. The main character wasn‘t really likable, and yet she was surrounded by people who kept excusing her self serving actions. It also dragged on a few chapters too many, in my opinion.

My next read...I don‘t think I‘ve seen much about this one on Litsy, and when I did a quick search I didn‘t see that a promising percentage. Anyone check it out yet?

This book was a disappointment despite liking the other books from this author. I feel like the writing was very stilted and I was being TOLD what was happening. I didn't like Charlotte, nor was I invested in her relationships with Alex or Seth, both who are her love interest.

This story could have been good but the author stopped right on the cusp of a really great story.

I have been on a change of pace from the fantasy binge I have been on. This book had all the feels. Even though it was a bit predictable, it didn't stop me from devouring it. Love, heartbreak, finding your true self, and acceptance. This book has it all. I don't do quotes but this one stuck with me. "I promise to love you forever. As long as there is love in this world, we will be a part of it." ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This book was absolutely amazing! So emotional and heartfelt. This was not just a love story, it was the story of a woman on the path to self discovery and a strong love that helped her to grow and learn. This book made me laugh and cry and every emotion in between! I cannot recommend it enough!

Just finished this. Really fast read and while good, it just didn't evoke the emotion in me that I know it was supposed to. I kinda figured things out early on and the whole story felt somewhat forced and not very real.

I received an arc of this book. It was amazing from page 1. Beautifully written. The characters are well developed and likable.
