I have a bunch of shots of the grounds at Coe Hall but not as many as I thought of the exterior! This is the main entrance, also the roundabout mentioned in my previous post. Be prepared to tolerate as many photos of the house and grounds as I can find! 😁🌹🌳
Okay, I love love LOVE Planting Fields and I've explored a lot of the cultivated 200+ acres out of the 409. We currently use the service entrance to access the park, as the Carshalton Gates are closed for preservation and to limit access to the land.
Starting this for #Booked2019, #myhappyplace. Written by Dr. Michael Coe, grandson of William Robertson Coe of Coe Hall. That happens to be the museum I give tours in over the summer! This is one of the only hints of scandal, but I always assumed Mai Coe had an affair with Everett Shinn... but that's not in the guidebook!

I hit a milestone today at the volunteer party at the museum. I've been a docent in the house for 5 years! There will be many more to come and I love every single second of it!
I should note that the book Final Report was written by Mr. Coe's grandson, Dr. Michael Coe, and recounts family stories and tells of the time Michael spent in the house I currently give tours in. 😄
