Aristocrats
Aristocrats: Caroline, Emily, Louisa and Sarah Lennox 1740 - 1832 | Stella Tillyard
4 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
A fascinating insight into 18th century aristocratic life through the lives of the four Lennox sisters, the great grandchildren of Charles II, whose extraordinary lives spanned the period 1740-1832. Passionate, witty and moving, the voices of the Lennox sisters reach us with immediacy and power, drawing the reader into their remarkable lives, and making this one of the most enthralling historical naratives to appear for many years.

Solid nonfiction about four sisters living in the 1700s. The masses of letters they wrote each other allow the telling of lives lived over 200 years ago. Always enjoy reading about the lives of women in other eras.

Liz_M Fascinating, where did you find out about this? 5y
JenniferP @Liz_M I can‘t remember - I think I might have been internet searching for nonfiction books about women. Being published 25 years ago, it doesn‘t seem very known anymore. 5y

Fascinating look at the lives of 4 sisters who actually lived out Regency Romance cliches 50 years before the Regency.
