Before I Ever Met You
Before I Ever Met You | Karina Halle
5 posts | 8 read | 2 to read
I first met William McAlister when I was just a teenager. He was handsome, had a beautiful wife and was on the verge of success, having just joined my father as his business partner. Mr. McAlister was full of smooth charm, but back then he was barely a blip on my radar. Just a family friend. Fast forward ten years: I'm 25 years old and a single mom trying to make things right for her seven-year old son. I've made some mistakes, grappled with my demons and now I'm back in the city of Vancouver, getting a second chance at a better life. I've started by working for my father's production company as an executive assistant. My first day on the job and I already know I could have a promising career there. That is until I see Will McAlister for the first time in a decade. Now recently divorced and as sophisticated as always, Will has gone from being my father's friend and business partner to something so much more. We're both older, for one thing, and he just oozes this worldly confidence and stark sexuality. Combined with his tall, muscular build and sharp suits, strong jaw and bedroom eyes, Will has turned into one hell of a distraction. A distraction I'm having a hard time staying away from, considering his office is right across from my desk and I work with him in such close proximity. But it's just a harmless crush, right? It's just an innocent fantasy of screwing him on his desk, right? It can't ever be more because he's my father's best friend, business partner, and my boss. Right? Wrong.

Mehso-so

I'm not quite sure how to review this book.
I liked it, but not enough to really like it. The intimate scenes were on point... but also, not? I'm not sure how to explain. It just seemed like it was WAAAAYYYY too much for their first time to be so crazy.

But that's just me, and my preferences, I guess!
Overall, though, it was a cute read. And I thought the story about her past was well done.

Pickpick

🌟🌟AFTER ALL🌟🌟 Karina Halle is the master when it comes to female heroines. This book was amazing! Both Emmett & Alyssa were perfect and their banter was off the charts, laugh out loud good at times. I loved this book!

Mehso-so

This one was a very 'meh' read for me. The age-difference thing is cringe-worthy, personally. I felt that there was no character growth really, and nothing much happened besides the love story.
Going back to my Karina Halle shelf on Goodreads, I found that finally, I'm not that much a fan of her stories - the proof being that I dnf'ed most of her books.
But I see that this book is very popular among readers - so please, go ahead and give it a go.

That-Bookish-Hiker I think I've only liked The Pact series. When I saw this one was with a girl and her dads friend, I was hesitant to read it because I'm not a fan of that trope and your review has now moved it to my "do not read" list. So thanks for sharing! ? (edited) 7y
MarriedtoMrT I don't read Karina Halle for similar reasons. Her books sound pretty appealing but I don't think I've finished one I've tried. I don't know what I'm missing that everyone else seems to love. 7y
