Dancing Wu Li Masters: An Overview of the New Physics
Dancing Wu Li Masters: An Overview of the New Physics | Gary Zukav
6 posts | 7 read | 7 to read
"The most exciting intellectual adventure I've been on since reading Robert Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance."--Christopher Lehmann-Haupt, New York TimesGary Zukav's timeless, humorous, New York Times bestselling masterpiece, The Dancing Wu Li Masters, is arguably the most widely acclaimed introduction to quantum physics ever written. Scientific American raves: "Zukav is such a skilled expositor, with such an amiable style, that it is hard to imagine a layman who would not find his book enjoyable and informative." Accessible, edifying, and endlessly entertaining, The Dancing Wu Li Masters is back in a beautiful new edition--and the doors to the fascinating, dazzling, remarkable world of quantum physics are opened to all once again, no previous mathematical or technical expertise required.

Did I understand ALL the science in this? No. But I actually understood almost all of it. The premise of explaining physics without any math was perfect for someone like me. I also particularly appreciated the links Zukav made between (then) cutting edge science and centuries old eastern philosophy, as that was something that had bearing on my own life. #Pantone2023 #Tangelo #Roll100 #Sharreadathon @Clwojick @PuddleJumper @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

IndoorDame I haven‘t decided if I‘m going to seek out what has changed since this publication in more hard science type books, but either way I‘m glad to have this base knowledge. 1y
Clwojick Great colour match! Way to go! 1y
Leftcoastzen I remember liking it a lot , but read it years ago . Always loved the cover. 1y

I love it when someone points out the literal meaning of a word that I‘ve just never bothered to notice before. It‘s like this amazing light goes on! I think the first time that happened to me was with sour-cream 😂

I‘m entertained that they‘ve chosen to format this with every section as Part 1 and every chapter as Chapter 1. I expect this will prove to be a subtle form of teaching one of the main concepts.

wanderinglynn Sounds interesting. 1y
IndoorDame @wanderinglynn so far it is! It was written in ‘79 so if you‘re just looking for a science text I‘d go with something current, but it was a huge sensation when it came out amongst the crowd who were obsessed with Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, so I‘m enjoying it partly for its own merits and partly to get a feel for that moment in time. 1y

Starting one of my #Roll100 books today. I‘ve owned this for 25 years and never gotten past the introduction, but I have a better background understanding of quantum mechanics than when I first picked it up, and am excited to see where this intersection of science and philosophy goes. @PuddleJumper

KathyWheeler My husband is a physicist who enjoys philosophy. He read this book years ago and loved it. I hope you like it too. 1y
IndoorDame @KathyWheeler thanks! Off to a good start :) 1y

Cinfhen Have u read this book???? Doesn‘t seem like an easy read 5y
diovival @Cinfhen Never! My house is filled with books I haven't read yet and I keep adding more to the mountain. 5y
diovival @Cinfhen This one used to be my uncle's book. He died young and I didn't get a chance to know him. I have a few of his books. From the stories I've heard of him and the books passed on to me, I gather he was a badass. 5y
Cinfhen Sorry you never had the chance to know your uncle but how cool to have inherited his books❤️ 5y

A great introduction to the world of Quantum Physics. Easy to follow and explained for the layman to understand.
