Mehso-so

This book broke the number #1 rule I learned in my entry level college literature course...show don't tell. We were told throughout the book the children's parents were hippies, but rarely were we shown them being hippies.

The book was more a collection of short stories than a novel with a straight story arc. Some of the stories were better than others. The stories weren't in chronological order and it felt disjointed.

Pickpick

I was expecting something different from this novel. It's really more a collection of short stories about siblings who have freedom to explore/ roam, but that's true of many children who aren't flower children. Apparently the first chapter was originally published on its own and if the rest of it had been more like it it'd be a 5 ⭐️ book. But I give it 3⭐️ because it was good but nothing special.

These are my post-Christmas book purchases, except for The Good Earth found in my sister's apartment complex's Free Little Library. (I was so excited to see a Free Little Library since we don't have any near my apartment.)

Lacythebookworm I love The Good Earth! I had that same copy ❤ 7y
Cinfhen Loved The Good Earth 🌏 but my son had a HUGE melt down when that was his assigned summer read in ninth grade😹 7y
BookishShelly @Cinfhen I saw it in my high school library and read it for fun. 😀 7y

rocksolidostrich Also you need to tell me what you think of The Cursed Child. 7y
BookishShelly @rocksolidostrich I'm terrible about reading books I own because of the library and to a lesser extent, NetGalley. 7y
BookishShelly @rocksolidostrich you can donate it to your wonderful free little library on my behalf instead. I'm so jealous you have one. 7y
