A week before Christmas, wealthy businessman Tom Underwood disappears into thin air, with more than enough people wanting him dead. This was a great story, but I'm not so sure of the narrator reading this on the audio. Often drifted off while listening

Mehso-so

I‘m a bit torn.

I *quite* liked the story, but it really didn‘t live up to the prologue. I *quite* liked Kala, Roleau and the team. But it took an awful lot of coincidences to solve the mystery. And in the end I didn‘t really care.

I‘m not sure how much of my meh-ness was down to the narration, which was a bit flat.

So yeah. I didn‘t hate it.

I‘m not having much joy with audiobooks at the moment πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Cathythoughts I love an audio book on my walks … narration is so important IMO 3y
rockpools @Cathythoughts Absolutely! The audio on this wasn‘t bad, just a bit odd - but I‘ve just started my next audiobook with a narrator I‘ve liked before (Tania Rodrigues), and it‘s such a RELIEF! It‘s like a friend telling you a story, rather than someone Reading Out Loud at you. 3y

Back at school, the final stretch! A condensed semester, then practicum, then I will be the newest library technician in Alberta!! Then, more time for reading πŸ˜‚ I am really enjoying this mystery, and by a Canadian author to boot!

Lacythebookworm That‘s great! What type of library will you be working in? 6y

Reagan @Lacythebookworm I am hoping to do my practicum in a medical library. I‘m pretty open though! 6y
Lacythebookworm That‘s one type of library I‘ve never worked in, but I think it would be super interesting! I‘m an academic librarian working mainly with information literacy and reference. 😊 I‘d love to know more about your experience! 6y
Reagan Thanks @Lacythebookworm I will let you know if I end up getting that placement! If I ever have questions about academic libraries, I know who to ask! 6y

Brenda Chapman is a local author in my city of Ottawa! I didn't know this until I started to look up all the different local authors, but now I'm really interested to read her book Cold Mourning. #day18 #localauthor #aprilbookshowers
