A Tangle of Knots
A Tangle of Knots | Lisa Graff
A National Book Award nominee! The magic of Savvy meets the complexity of When You Reach Me in this "blithe magical puzzle," --The Wall Street Journal Told in multiple viewpoints, A Tangle of Knots is a magnificent puzzle. In a slightly magical world where everyone has a Talent, eleven-year-old Cady is an orphan with a phenomenal Talent for cake baking. But little does she know that fate has set her on a journey from the moment she was born. And her destiny leads her to a mysterious address that houses a lost luggage emporium, an old recipe, a family of children searching for their own Talents, and a Talent Thief who will alter her life forever. However, these encounters hold the key to Cady's past and how she became an orphan. If she's lucky, fate may reunite her with her long-lost parent. Lisa Graff adds a pinch of magic to a sharply crafted plot to create a novel that will have readers wondering about fate and the way we're all connected. From the Trade Paperback edition.

I'm off work today, but I've been getting ready for a new library program by reading middle-grade books about food. Picking a new theme each month is forcing me to fulfill my resolution of reading more middle grade this year to up my readers' advisory skills!

I think this is aimed at younger readers but it was 50p in a charity shop and too pretty to leave behind #TBRsomeday

quirkyreader You can't beat 50p. 7y

The way the perspectives came together was interesting but I don't think this will be very sought after in my classroom library. #TeachersofLitsy

I love the recipes sprinkled in throughout this #middlegrade book! A few of my students would really enjoy that! However, the alternating perspectives is proving to be a lot to keep track of. #TeachersofLitsy

We start our middle school independent reading program in January, so I am trying to up my consumption of middle grade books... normally I gravitate towards the young adult titles but I've got to be able to recommend books to about 300 middle schoolers for the rest of the year. My job is seriously the best!

LauraBeth My daughter liked this one 7y
christineandbooks My daughter read and enjoyed both of these. 7y
Johanna414 @LauraBeth @christineandbooks that's good to know - I can tell me students that they are popular titles! I'm halfway through A Tangle of Knots and really enjoying it so far. Heartwarming and quirky 7y
