The Nag Hammadi Scriptures
The Nag Hammadi Scriptures: The Revised and Updated Translation of Sacred Gnostic Texts Complete in One Volume | Marvin W. Meyer, James M. Robinson
3 posts | 3 read | 2 to read
The Nag Hammadi Scriptures, edited by Marvin Meyer, is the most complete, up-to-date, one-volume, English-language edition of the renowned library of Gnostic manuscripts discovered in Egypt in 1945, which rivaled the Dead Sea Scrolls find in significance. It includes the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Mary, and the recently discovered Gospel of Judas, as well as other Gnostic gospels and sacred texts. This volume also includes introductory essays, notes, tables, glossary, index, etc. to help the reader understand the context and contemporary significance of these texts which have shed new light on early Christianity and ancient thought. The compilation of ancient manuscripts that constitute The Nag Hammadi Scriptures is a discovery that challenges everything we thought we knew about the early Christian church, ancient Judaism, and Greco-Roman religions.

I don't want to debate religion, but I used to call myself a Christian. Although, it's been years since I've gone by any label pertaining to my spirituality. And there are a lot of reasons for that. I respect people's faith, no matter what that might be. In my opinion, spirituality is highly personal and individualistic. I'm just exploring and keeping my mind (and heart) open. I stumbled upon gnosticism recently, so I wanted to learn more.

Trashcanman A wonderful religion is Baha'i but I still struggle with a higher power aspect. It was almost perfect. But alas I'm still a heretic. 3y
jen_the_scribe @Trashcanman I've heard of Baha'i and it does sound like a beautiful faith. Personally, I don't struggle with the idea of a higher power, but I do struggle with the influence of man on all faiths. 3y
