From the author of How Not to Fall comes an electrifying, powerful new story about love, trust, and emotional surrender. Once upon a time, med student Annie Coffey set out to have a purely physical fling with Charles Douglas, a gorgeous British doctor in her lab. It didnt quite work out that way. Instead, secretsand desireswere bared, hearts were broken, and Annie knew she had to leave this complicated, compelling man who remains convinced he can never give her what she needs. Walking away is one thing. Staying away is another. Annie and Charles reunite at a London conference, rekindling a friendship they struggle to protect from their intense physical connection. Little by little, Annie gets a glimpse into Charless dark past and his wealthy, dysfunctional family. Soon, shes discovering what it means to have someone claim her, body and soul. And shes learning that once in a lifetime you find a love that can make you do anythingexcept let go.

This is part two of a two-part book series and it is super satisfying. The things that went wrong in book one are looked at carefully and the hero actually attends therapy sessions to help him deal with his issues. Good job, sir! I wish therapy was more affordable so more of us could do that, it helped him out a lot. I liked watching both halves of the couple grow as people, and the sexiness is stronger for it.

Continues tale of once-coed & postdoc lab supervisor. New Adult milestones & his attachment issues. Nerd sex. Sample dirty talk (as he kisses feet): “...the abductor hallucis bulges from the side, firm, bitable. The joints of your first metatarsal protrude, bony, calloused. The rest of them are flat and sinewy, leading to long, bony toes.” Ookay. Other cast: his family (abusive dad,Sherlockian bro,sis w/anorexia).Death & philosophy. HEA. #romantsy

I loved this just as much as I loved "How Not to Fall". Maybe more.

Good follow-up to the first novel. It was a relief to finally get to a HEA for these two people who really deserved it. My only minor complaints were that Annie still said "Dude" way too much, and she was sometimes a little bit too perfect to be believable. Charles was a mess, but it was nice to see inside his head too, this time. Series is a worthwhile read if you like steamy romances with nerdy characters, rock climbing, & angst. Who doesn't? ?

Not as good as the first, but such a necessary book.

Good Lord, that was an emotional ride. Annie and Charles deserve that HEA so hard after everything they've been through. This is the second in a duology and I highly recommend it, along with the author's nonfiction book Come As You Are (published under the name Emily Nagoski). #romantsy

The last time I was this bounce-up-and-down excited about a new release was Sarah MacLean's latest! #romantsy
