My Crazy Dog: My Narrative Essay
My Crazy Dog: My Narrative Essay | Darcy Pattison
2 posts
A hectic chase inspires Dennis's amazing narrative essay. A romp with his best friend, a Bernese Mountain Dog named Clark Kent, inspires Dennis to write a narrative essay. Recently, Mom asked Dennis to put a leash on Clark Kent so they could take the dog to the veterinarian for shots. Clark gave them all a merry chase! There's lots of action to love here. In this third installment of the The Read and Write Series, children's book author and writing teacher, Darcy Pattison, entertains kids while also teaching them how-to-write. This book packages a complete narrative essay lesson plan into an engaging story about a boy and his dog. Adding sensory details is demonstrated on each page and on the mentor text essay. Students are reminded to add transition words and use great verbs. Who would know that writing essays could be so simple and fun? This story has multiple levels. Young kids will revel in the exciting story of chasing a dog around the house. Elementary students will rejoice that learning essay writing is so much fun. And teachers will find this the easiest writing lesson they've ever done--and the most effective. Buy this amazing story to fascinate a kid (and teach them something in the process). THE READ AND WRITE SERIES I Want a Dog: My Opinion Essay, Book 1 I Want a Cat: My Opinion Essay, Book 2 My Crazy Dog: My Narrative Essay, Book 3 My Dirty Dog: My Informative Essay, Book 4 (forthcoming) WATCH DARCY PATTISON EXPLAIN HOW TO TEACH NARRATIVE ESSAYS In a fifteen-minute video, Darcy Pattison explains how to teach narratives with this book: mimshouse.com/writing-narrative-essays/

Distracted from my #ListsyPartyofOne by this cute, sweet, crazy boy, who is purposefully putting his ball under the couch so someone has to get it for him. It's his new favorite game. #sillypuppy #ilovemydog

For @emilydecato ...my dogs wear people clothes too (XS or S in women's sizing, meaning we can often find stuff at thrift stores or on clearance to modify to fit her). This fleece vest zips up the back, we cut some fabric out of the underside and inserted it into the neck and, voila, quick and easy dog clothes. We also make her stuff from scratch, because she is a spoiled princess. 👑 🐺

[DELETED] 1409720085 I love this so much. I'm glad other people treat their dogs like people too. 😂😂😂 7y
DebinHawaii Love the color! 💜 7y
GlitteryOtters Also, we do actually have a leash for her--this is our 20 foot long line rope we hook up to her so she can run around like a little lunatic in our (not fenced) communal backyard. As she is part Ridgeback & thinks lure coursing is super fun, we have to keep a handle on her at all times. All it would take would be one sighting of one of the neighborhood squirrels or bunnies and she'd be off down the street, totally focused on the chase. 7y

GlitteryOtters @DebinHawaii picked this one up at the thrift store for $3 and she's been wearing it for nearly a decade now. Definitely one of my better clothing investments! 7y
GlitteryOtters @emilydecato she even has a human name--we named her after my favorite fellow redhead, the 1920s/30s film star & well known flapper, Clara Bow. 😂 We have 3 dogs in all: 8 year old Golden named Ziggy, 12 year old Ridgeback mix Clara Bow & almost 15 year old Alaskan Husky retired racing sled dog named Streak (the name our Alaskan musher friends gave her). We're currently planning the Husky's birthday party(because how often do large dogs turn 15?!) 7y
