Two Summers | Aimee Friedman
11 posts | 17 read | 1 reading | 5 to read
From NYT bestselling author Aimee Friedman comes an inventive novel about fate, family secrets, and new love, told in split narrative. In this absorbing new novel, Summer makes a choice that changes the whole course of the season ahead of her. When her story divides, Summer finds herself alternately face to face with a longtime crush and worlds away. She is both living amid secrets and kept from them. But what matters more -- the choices she makes or the experiences that shape her? Set in both the south of France and stateside, the twisting, atmospheric Two Summers explores questions of fate, self-determination, and whether or not the journey matters more than the destination.

I got lost in this book, I couldn‘t put it down! It was so interesting the beginning decided the fate of her whole summer and I loved it! I loved how the author made two parallel universes! It very interesting to see all the different possibilities.

It was a good book with a great plot in my opinion. I got into it and finished it within a month which, trust me, is great for me.

The parallel universe storyline meant that I had to experience certain touchstone character moments with Summer twice—bc they were literally written twice. I would have loved to get wrapped up in a ship war between her two beaus (bc this is who I am), but I didn't much care about either one. The most interesting relationship arc is between Summer and her father, and by the end of the book, it felt like their story had only just begun. 😶 #ya

(4 stars) Three Thoughts 1) started this on audio but had to switch to print as narrator read so slowly!! 2) really cute story but peppered with some really unlikable characters 3) really liked how the epilogue was done - so you know it's a good read since I normally detest epilogues!!!

Hi all! This is my first post to Litsy and this my newest book that's out: TWO SUMMERS. It's about summer, kisses, chocolate croissants, and parallel worlds. It's kind of like a YA Sliding Doors.Hope you love it!

mollykh I HAVE read it and it's terrific! 8y

Re-reading this and taking notes. Bookseller lunch with Aimee coming to Boston in early June! Plus, it is time to make another book box...

This novel was fun! Told in a style that employs two separate storylines with similar details, it was initially a bit clunky but eventually worked out well. Very cute contemp!

wordrevel The synopsis of this book is so reminiscent of Maybe in Another Life, so I'm really looking forward to this one! :) 8y
