High-school mystery fan Shin'ichi Kudo is actually one of his high school's best minds, but he gets his reality checks from his childhood friend and almost-girlfriend Ran Mori. Nothing can keep Shin'ichi from a case, until he follows a suspicious man into a park, is accosted from behind and fed a strange chemical which renders him unconscious. When he awakens, he has been transformed into a puny grade schooler! The hapless boy finds a home with eccentric inventor Professor Agasa, who searches for a cure for his condition. While he's waiting to be restored to his adolescence, Shin'inchi takes on the name Conan Edogawa (borrowed from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the last name of the famous Japanese mystery writer Edogawa Ranpo). As Conan, he plays the part of the little brother that Ran never had, and helps her incompetent private-detective father solve all of the gruesome murder mysteries that come their way.

@Ijuliel Q. Name a favorite detective in a book

There are many good detectives in #CaseClosed but my heart lies with our main character Jimmy Kudo who was slipped an experimental drug that turned him into a child. And thus, his career as an (incognito) child detective begins. He solves many mysteries on his journey to find the organization that did this to him

“Only one truth prevails.“ #DetectiveConan

Congrats @Copwithabook!

night_shift I've seen these mangas before but had no idea that was what was up with that character! 😂 that's cool. 4y
coffees @UnidragonFrag def recommend reading it or watching. They're very low commitment since the majority are individual cases. I watch then stop then come back xD 4y
night_shift @Crimson613 that would work perfect. Isn't there like 100s of episodes? That's a bit too much to binge lol I'll have to see if any of the streaming things I have have it. 4y

coffees @UnidragonFrag yeah, there's ton!. IDK if it's at 700 or 900 something :000 4y
Sace Don't believe a word @Crimson613 says! I told myself the same thing. "I'll just buy two volumes" I said. Then I started reading and it's too much fun to stop. I had to buy 3 more volumes ? 4y
coffees @Sace LOL, My plan, ruined! 😆😆 4y
Sace @Crimson613 I wonder why they changed his name in English editions. His name is different in the Spanish edition. It's not Jimmy Kudo. 🤔 4y
coffees @Sace what is it in the Spanish? 4y
Sace @Crimson613 they used the Japanese name Shinchi. 4y
Sace *Shinichi 4y
coffees @Sace oh yeah :/ when I first read shinichi I was like who is this?! Then I realized but by then I was already used to the American names Orz I think it's just a way to make it more "appealing" and "American". Like its easier to say Jimmy esp since it aired in the 90s, and probably less positive Japanese sentiments then. Even now anime isn't seen very well compared to other animated content (esp compared to American) 4y
coffees @Sace there's this really neat video that goes over that https://youtu.be/Vev5Gp2skhI 4y
Sace @Crimson613 interesting. I teach high school and my students love anime (and they tend to prefer subbed over dubbed.) They just about fall out of their chairs when they see me pull manga out of my purse to read during lunch 😂 Off to watch the video now. 4y
Sace Ha! I'm a fan of telenovelas too. 4y
coffees @Sace lol! I think I'd also be like woah. altho maybe not as much with millennial teachers, I know a lot of people that age that like anime and manga. What kind do you read? And yes, novelas were my lifesource back in the day, don't watch anymore bc there haven't been very good ones 4y
Sace I'm the mother of a millennial so that's probably why my students are so surprised. It was my millennial that got me started with manga actually (she liked Inyu Yasha.) And yes, the telenovela landscape is really hit or miss sometimes. 4y
Sace As for what I read... I've read and enjoyed several Shojo (Red River is a standout for me.) I adored Princess Jellyfish. Master Keaton led me to Monster. I am the only person on the planet who does not like Deathnote. NonNonBa was really. Food Wars! 4y
Copwithabook Thanks you! 4y
