“Down, down in the depths of the sunless sea, deep, deep in the cold, cold dark, creatures, strange and fearsome, lurk.”
Great informational book with cool illustrations
This nonfiction book talks all about a giant squid. Fleming actually paired up with a scientist to make this story! I think that the information is a little comprehensive for young children, but I can see children loving the illustrations. The book uses the mystery of the squid to set up how the book is presented.
this book was very interesting to me, because the illustrations extend a text or speak plainly for themselves without the author writing. and the total format of the book contributes to clarify the attractiveness of the book through flipping pages and intensity of the pictures.
This non fiction book has the most amazing illustrations ever! It makes the story about the squid so much more intriguing because you want to see the pictures! It is all factual informations and in the back they have a diagram of the squid. I think this book would be great for children because it is fun but also has great information about giant squids.
Giant Squid by Candace Fleming was such an amazing book to read. The illustrations of the squid portrayed throughout this book were fantastic. It is a non fiction picture book about the giant squid. Candace Fleming and Eric Rohmann explore both visually and poetically, this hidden creature's mysterious life. At the end of the book it also gives many facts about the body parts of the giant squid that you can learn about. Definitely worth reading!
This book is pretty awesome. It is a Robert Sibert Honor Book, and the illustrations and story itself are great for children(pub.2016). It is based on true events and a real creature.
The picture of the giant squid is drawn, but is based off real picture that people were able to get(very informative book). My favorite quote from this book is,
“You examine each piece, questioning and guessing, wondering at the weirdness, of these baffling beasts.“
Giant Squid by Candance Fleming and Eric Rohman, a siebert award winner, published in 2016 was very interesting to me. I really like how it was based off a real animal and included facts about the animal while making it interesting! I definitely learned without feeling like I was reading a text book or anything like that!
