Making Sense of God
Making Sense of God: An Invitation to the Skeptical | Timothy Keller
We live in an age of skepticism. Our society places such faith in empirical reason, historical progress, and heartfelt emotion that its easy to wonder: Why should anyone believe in Christianity? What role can faith and religion play in our modern lives? In this thoughtful and inspiring new book, pastor and New York Times bestselling author Timothy Keller invites skeptics to consider that Christianity is more relevant now than ever. As human beings, we cannot live without meaning, satisfaction, freedom, identity, justice, and hope. Christianity provides us with unsurpassed resources to meet these needs. Written for both the ardent believer and the skeptic, Making Sense of God shines a light on the profound value and importance of Christianity in our lives. From the Hardcover edition.

Another excellent Keller - I'm always struck by how well-read he is, he references just about anything, and often other authors I'm reading at the same time. He must be an interesting guy to talk to.

I'm still reading this one but it's good stuff so far. Timothy Keller is one of my favorite Pastor authors. So smart, brilliant and accessible. I hold him on the same level as C.S. Lewis.

Hestapleton Tim Keller is amazing. I read his book on marriage and I didn't want to punch him and that was when I was officially sold. 7y
NCNY I used to go to his church. Amazing speaker. 7y
BookBabe Here, @MrBook - this would fit nicely on your "religious studies" shelf 7y

MrBook 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻!!! 7y
alisahar My husband's quoted in this one- David Sessions. 😊 7y
Libby1 @Hehaney - I usually want to punch the authors of Christian books about marriage so that is a fine endorsement indeed! 7y
Notafraidofwords Is this marriage advice or just relationship advice? 7y
LauraBeth @Hehaney and @Libby1 his book on marriage is hands down the BEST book on marriage that I've ever read (it helped me decide to remarry my husband after we had a very bitter divorce). 7y
Hestapleton @Libby1 @Notafraidofwords his marriage book (title escaping me) is specifically geared towards marriage, but I found a lot of useful in my current dating relationship. He says some really great stuff about gender that you don't often find in Christian marriage books!! 7y
LauraBeth @NCNY agree! I listen to his podcasts of sermons at Redeemer every now and then 7y
LauraBeth Now wondering what else is on @MrBook's "religious studies" shelf ?? @BookBabe 7y
LauraBeth @alisahar wow - let me go look that up and see what your husband said! 7y
LauraBeth @Notafraidofwords this particular book in this post isn't a marriage book but the author did write a book about the meaning of marriage. It's not cheesy like most marriage books are. 7y
Notafraidofwords @Hehaney great. Thanks ! 7y
LauraBeth @Hehaney, @Libby1, @Notafraidofwords Here are my top, non-cheesy marriage books: Meaning of Marriage - Timothy Keller
You and Me Forever - Francis Chan
Sacred Marriage - Gary Thomas
Five Love Languages - Gary Chapman
Love and Respect - Dr. Emerson Eggerich
Very Married - Katherine Willis
