It was a slow start with this one, but it picked up towards the middle and then I couldn‘t put it down. I really loved these characters from the first book until now, and they all had wonderful arcs across both books in the series. There‘s heartache, beautiful dreams and amazing world building, romance, and plenty of magic. It ended beautifully and I‘m glad to have read this series.

Worked it out before Tain & Kadka!!!

I enjoyed this - it‘s definitely the set up book for future storylines (that were hinted at in book 1) around a civil war brewing between magical and non-magical beings - which will be interesting but I much prefer the smaller storylines - the cases that get solved, the quirky side characters and the gradual working through of past traumas and disappointments to reach their full potential.

Usually, I'm always saying I want more from stories, especially when they are this short. However, I think the length was just right, and dragging it out further would have made the story too boring. A lot happened, but it never felt rushed. It was well balanced in a lot of different ways.

I see that my preorder for the tagged book was delayed. I was looking to see what people were saying about this online and they were saying that this book might not be released until 2025 and that the December release date is just a placeholder for the real release date. I didn‘t know that this was a sequel. I haven‘t read the first book so I don‘t know if I‘m going to like it or not but I have plenty of books to read so I can wait for this book.

First off, this book is hilarious. It‘s very satirical and pokes a lot of fun at own society. Parts of the story were reminiscent of the pandemic and how some political leaders and society handled it. I found it very clever. One of the funniest parts of the book was ogre speak, which was essentially really foul and rude language.

May #TBRTarot (Choose a book written by a male author) #ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024 I enjoyed this book. My favorite character is The Huntsman, Grimsby‘s partner. Grimsby is a little difficult to take seriously because he uses phrases like “Puppydog Tails” as swear words. It‘s still a pick because some pretty awful things happen and Grimsby still manages to have specific views of right and wrong. He maintains an innocent nature and helps people.

This is an easy pick for the worst read of the month. However, I don‘t regret it, because the artwork was amazing. I have no intention whatsoever of completing this series, and I am and hauling it from my library.
