#WondrousWednesday
@Eggs (thanks for the tag! 😘

I've been out of town, so I'm a tad behind.
1. If I helped to make one child a better reader and writer after teaching for 28 years, I would happily say #myworkisdone.
2. My idea everything would have been to not have had to work but to have been able to use my teaching skills as volunteer at my local library, maybe helping adults learn how to read.
3. Retirement? #heckya! 🤩

KadaGul @dabbe #1 I deeply respect ✊🫡you and your efforts. 1d
Eggs #1 - I‘m sure you affected many young lives 💙!! 40 years for me - phew 😮‍💨 1d

dabbe @Eggs You WAY MORE than me! 🤩😀😘 1d
bthegood I still remember my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Vanderbrink, she helped me fall in love with learning. You may not know when and how you reach people - but you do 💝 1d
Eggs @dabbe In reflection, it‘s not the # of years, but the quality of the relationships, the power of the word, the epiphanies—evidenced by the notes, letters, and art our students gave to us, in all their vulnerability and wonder 💭 💜 🥰 21h
Eggs @bthegood Miss Silliman, 3rd grade, for me ~ fresh out of college, lovely, polite, read to us, fostered a safe and comfortable learning environment, solidified my love of reading🩷! Magical ✨💫 21h
dabbe @bthegood So true. I remember my 4th-grade teacher, Ms. Littrell, for the same reason. Thanks for reminding me. 💙🩵💙 16h

#WondrousWednesday

1) Starting a non-profit and advocating for the clients we served
2) when I worked full time I liked 4 10‘s best when I could make it happen
3) My grandfather wanted one of his 5 children to be an accountant. All 5 went to college (which in their circumstance was quite an accomplishment) but he got 3 teachers, an engineer and a CEO instead. It always pleased me that I filled that dream although he didn‘t live to see it.

1. Helping kids gain confidence in their ability to write and communicate, introducing them to the beauty of poetry and the written word, and helping them rediscover the joy of reading.
2. I stopped believing that balance is possible. 🤷‍♀️
3. I used to love to play school, so yes!
#WondrousWednesday

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I used to play school as a kid, too. As I got older, we came to realize I just liked telling people what to do & hoped they'd be less stupid. 🤣 3d
Eggs Even when you‘re off work, it‘s still hovering your mind! 3d
CindyMyLifeIsLit @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I hear you! I used to teach preschool and I realized that decorating the classroom and planning the activities was the fun part. That‘s when I realized that I don‘t do so well with the littles—I love high school! It often bears a disconcerting similarity to preschool (in behavior and decision-making) but they‘re also a lot of fun! I do get to tell them what to do and they do it (most of the time). 😁 20h

1– when I worked at a children‘s shelter, one of the teens I was supervising got into the medication box before my shift started. The shifts switched, & I came on duty only to find that he‘d overdosed. I drove him to the hospital. It‘s been 25 years, & I still think about him and hope he‘s okay.

2– working from home, with the confidence & drive to support myself creatively.

3– No, but I did that career for a while & decided it wasn‘t for me.

Smrloomis That would be super scary 💕 Hope he‘s a middle-aged adult now… 3d
slategreyskies @Smrloomis I know he survived that particular attempt, but I lost contact with him not long after that. I think he will likely be someone I remember my entire life. 3d

1) I volunteered to help a homeless veteran with some employment law issues, got them resolved in his favor, then went on to help him with a place to live and with donations from my law firm bought him a wardrobe and helped with rent. He and I then did a speaking tour for the TX State Bar promoting lawyers volunteering to help veterans

2) At 55 and a partner in my firm, my time can be flexible, so now is pretty good

3) 👍🏻

Texreader The volunteer work was many years ago now and he lives in the DC area. We are friends and we stay in touch. (edited) 3d
MrsMalaprop How satisfying! Talk about making a difference 🙌. Thanks for sharing ❤️ 3d

Eggs That is Awesome 🤩 👏🏻 3d
TieDyeDude Excellent work! So sad anyone has to go through all that for the basics like shelter and clothing, but especially veterans. What a great deed ❤ 3d

#WondrousWednesday @eggs

1️⃣ Back when I worked for myself I helped a local company with embezzlement. I did some forensic accounting and helped prove that an employee stole over 350K. They were able to recover all the money.
2️⃣ At my age, my balance is no work. However, I still work around 35 hours.
3️⃣ Nope. I wanted to ride horses for a living.

Want to play? @bnp @Texreader @TheBookHippie

I'm gonna combo platter these my most recent job was working my country's last federal election. The most exhausting and the most rewarding. Not a job I ever considered on my own. My grandmother got me work on my first provincial election. My ideal work life balance would be working 3 full days a week with the rest of the week off. Ideally making enough money to own my own home and have a few pets. #wondrouswednesday
