Well, I‘m minutes away from hosting my 10 month-old grandson for the next 4 days and 3 nights - by myself! And some of that daytime will also include his first cousin and my 22 month-old grandson. 3 year-old twins will be in Branson, MO and - goodness I love them- told there parents‘ they‘d rather stay with me! ….I think it‘s safe to lock in my #indexcard collection for May!

It‘s April and once again my tax bill was significant. So this #IndexCard display represents in part a game I play …. In my head I subtract $15 from my tax bill for each new release I‘m able to nab from the library. This month I subtracted $225 - not bad, but I have a long way to go 🤪

slategreyskies I‘ve seen that some libraries will keep a running tally for you and print it out on your checkout receipts. It‘ll say something like, “So far this year, you‘ve saved $435 by using your local library.” I think that‘s a really good idea, and I wish my library did that. I‘d find it fascinating to see my tally go up over the course of the year. 1mo

marleed @slategreyskies oh my gosh, that‘s a great idea! A few years ago I received a breakdown that showed how much of my state taxes went to support the public library. I thought it was fascinating and realized at the very least we should all read enough library book to match those amounts. 1mo

It‘s a wrap on February 2024 and most of these books were pulled from my physical shelves.

….My read & unread books are mixed together on my shelves with a translucent paragraph tab on the spine of unread books. It feels good to finally pull more tabs than I add in a given month. If I plan to donate the book, I'll turn the spine out on my shelves.

marleed @SamAnne Even though I had a December head start with Demon and Jan lasted 529 days in my neck of the woods, my books consist of physical, ebook, and audio. I live on my own these days and watch little TV, so if my eyes aren‘t landing on words, I‘m likely listening to an audiobook. I often do both, simultaneously! 4mo

I just had to see what my #BookSpin and #DoubleSin list looked like (arranged BS, DS, BS, DS… Jan-Dec). I didn‘t keep track as each month ended so I traveled back through my entire year of Litsy posting to build this! I‘m thrilled realizing many of these books would remain upon my TBR had I not participated in this challenge. The average rating is 4.25, and that‘s a B+! Thank you @TheAromaofBooks for hosting this each year! #indexcard

marleed @dabbe For 2023 I played this challenge by category but didn‘t track my BS or DS once the month was finished. Oh my gosh, it was so interesting for me to see how this list fell out and to average out my subjective ratings which I record on the backside. I‘m thrilled I read some of these books that were so long on my TBR! And some of those books were donated to area LFLs! 5mo

According to the hen-scratch on the backsides of my #indexcard collection, these are my #Top230f23. I disqualified from consideration rereads, one 5* novella, and nonfiction. My favorite is tagged, and the first 10 (by row and in no particular) are my #Top10of23.
